This walkthrough replays the measured add-on use case. It shows the actual API requests and payloads from a Zuora test tenant, but it does not send any calls. Use it to see the sequence before you try the same steps in your sandbox.
For the written version of this use case, see Measured add-on.
AI Money Maker - Turn AI Features Into Revenue
See. Try. Do.
A local cockpit for turning an AI outcome into billing.
What this is
Our AI Money Maker is a simple application that shows you how to build AI monetization solutions with Zuora.
Our scenario is this: Your company has decided to monetize a new AI feature by counting the successful 'conversations' that result from your end user's interactions with your new embedded chatbot. Marketing have decided that each successful conversation is worth $3 in value to your customers. Customers are asked to commit to a minimum quarterly spend with any shortfall being added at the end of the quarter. And you've been handed the task of turning those successful conversations into revenue. Here we'll show you how to do that, step by step.
How this walkthrough works
- Nothing is sent anywhere. This page makes no API calls. Every request and response below is captured traffic from real runs against a Zuora test tenant, replayed so you can read and copy it.
- Dates are frozen to Q2 2026, the quarter the traffic was captured in.
- If you want to run AI Money Maker against your own Zuora sandbox tenant, the source and instructions are in our Developer's Interest Board in the Zuora Community (OneID login required).
What to expect
Eight steps carry you from a safety check to a customer invoice waiting for payment. Every request is captured and displayed for your inspection:
- Connected? — Verify your connection to the Zuora tenant.
- Define the unit of measure — Discover or create the Conversation UOM.
- Package the offer — Create AI Assist product and usage plan with Commitments integration.
- Create a buyer — Create an account and order against it.
- Send the signal — Import dated conversation events.
- Turn usage into money — Submit three monthly bill runs, watch the Zuora Time Machine in operation.
- Inspect the proof — Review the invoices this run produced.
- Review — Recap what we set out to do and what got built.
